About the Mt. Shasta Writers Series

The Mt. Shasta Writers Series is run by a volunteer board of directors. The Series began with the goal of creating participatory culture in the community by inviting well-regarded regional poets and writers to give readings and writing workshops and to visit local schools.

Since its inception, the Series has presented numerous readings, writing workshops, school visits, and sponsors an Open Mic poetry event for local poets on a regular basis.

The Writers Series is funded through regional and national grants (such as Poets & Writers Inc. and Shasta Regional Community Foundation), local business sponsorship, and individual contributions.

The Series is fiscally sponsored by the Siskiyou Arts Council with the overriding goal of promoting the arts in the communities of Siskiyou County. We are an organization funded by grants and donations from individuals and local businesses. Seeking funds for all of our projects is an ongoing effort. Donations can be sent to: Mt. The Mt. Shasta Writers Series operates under the non-profit status of the Siskiyou Arts Council. All donations are tax deductible.
